Either AuthenticOrganizations has very good timing, or the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation is very persuasive. Maybe both.
It was announced today (May 11th) that the White House unit formerly known as The Office of Public Liaison is now:
The Office of Public Engagement is the embodiment of the President’s goal of making government inclusive, transparent, accountable and responsible.
We create and coordinate opportunities for direct dialogue between the Obama Administration and the American public, while bringing new voices to the table and ensuring that everyone can participate and inform the work of the President.

I’ll have to ask my colleague Joseph Logan at PublicOrgTheory.org what the real implications of this change could be. In the meantime, I’m glad to know that the White House is listening to the experts– you know, those people who know all about engaging a community in a conversation dedicated to conflict resolution and world peace.

Let’s keep our eyes open for some public examples of putting into practice the Seven Core Principles for Public Authentic Engagement.
